Everything We Thought Of So You Don't Have To

THE GARDEN

Casa Botanica is not a hotel with plants in it. It is a garden that happens to have beautifully designed rooms. From the plant-filled lobby to the orchid-lined upstairs hallway, through the soaring open-air atrium where palms have grown all the way to the roofline, out to the lush back patio where banana stalks hang heavy from the trees — the botanical life here is not decoration. It is the point.

THE OPEN AIR ATRIUM

Where two rooms once stood — one on each floor — a garden now grows. The atrium at the heart of Casa Botanica connects all three floors — a soaring vertical garden of ferns, vines, palms and a decorative fish bowl that catches the light falling from above. It is impossible to walk through without stopping to look up.

THE DIPPING POOL AND PATIO

A turquoise dipping pool set among tropical plants, with water spilling from Quetzalcoatl mouths into the pool below. Around the pool — lounge areas, lush tropical plantings, banana trees, the BBQ, the outdoor shower and the wide Nayarit sky above. This is where mornings become afternoons without anyone noticing.

🚿 OUTDOOR SHOWER

Rinse off after the beach. Stand under warm water with the garden around you and open sky above. One of those simple pleasures that turns out to be quietly extraordinary.

MORNING COFFEE — TWO STATIONS

Complimentary organic coffee every morning. Ground floor guests find their coffee station in the shared kitchen. Upstairs guests — Plumeria, Coral and Garza — have their own dedicated station steps from their door. Nobody travels far before the first cup.

SHARED KITCHEN

The freedom to eat on your own terms at your own pace. Large fridge and freezer. Microwave. Toaster oven. Full utensils and cookware. Sink. And yes — a margarita machine. It is there. Use it.

BBQ

Available for all guests in the patio. Stock up at the Saturday market one block away and make an evening of it.

BEACH CHAIRS, UMBRELLAS, SURFBOARD AND COOLERS

Help yourselves to anything you need for a day at the beach. Chairs and umbrellas,  coolers, boogie boards and even a surfboard for those who want to catch a wave. The beach is three minutes on foot. Less on a bicycle.

BIRDWATCHING

Lo De Marcos is an extraordinary wildlife destination. One Casa Botanica guest documented over 100 species during a single stay. Roseate Spoonbills at the estuary. Blue-footed Boobies offshore. Painted Buntings in the gardens. A small but reliable resident crocodile in the winter lagoon.

Binoculars available on request.

PRACTICAL DETAILS

WiFi — high speed throughout the property.

Air conditioning — all rooms and suites.

Check in — 2pm, often earlier just ask.

Check out — 11am, late check out often arranged.

Parking — street parking right outside, safe and easy.

Languages — English and Spanish spoken.

Open — October through July.

Children — warmly welcome aged 10 and over.

BICYCLES

Complimentary bicycles for all guests. Casa Botanica's complimentary bicycles are perfect for getting around — the beach road, the river path to the estuary and most destinations are easy smooth riding. Just be advised that the cobblestone streets of the pueblo centro are best explored on foot — wild, bumpy and authentically Mexican, but probably not on two wheels.

Leave your bicycle unlocked at the beach. Nobody in Lo De Marcos will take it. It is that kind of pueblo.

ROOFTOP LOUNGE

Five thousand square feet of open rooftop with views in every direction. A casual open air lounge where guests gather as the day cools. At dawn the finest sunrise spot in Lo De Marcos — the Sierra Madre turning gold on the horizon. In the evening a natural birdwatching platform as egrets cross the sky heading to roost and swallows perform their evening choreography.

For the Pacific sunset — the beach is three minutes away. The rooftop gives you something rarer.

One suggestion before heading up — blend a pitcher of margaritas in the kitchen first. The sunrise is considerably better with one in hand. Trust us on this.

Look up anywhere in Casa Botanica. You are looking at the same ceiling that was here before us and will be here long after.

Local fishermen bring in the morning catch — their boats pulled up on the sand near La Tomatina. The Saturday market is one block away. Ask us and we will point you in exactly the right direction.
